How to tell if a website is built on Drupal

Paste any domain and we will tell you whether it is Drupal, how sure we are and which signs gave it away.

Drupal is a content management system.

Free, no sign-up. We make up to four requests, like a visitor: the home page, robots.txt and the sitemap — and read public signs only.

Signs of Drupal we look for

None of these alone is proof on every site; together they give a confidence level. You can also check most of them yourself by viewing the page source and response headers.

  • Response header “x-generator”
  • Response header “x-drupal-cache”
  • Response header “x-drupal-dynamic-cache”
  • The page declares it in its “generator” meta tag
  • The page loads files from “/sites/default/”
  • Page markup has the attribute “data-drupal-selector”
  • The page loads files from “/core/misc/”
  • The site sets a cookie with a characteristic name
