You published a post. Can readers and Google find it?
Up’n’Top recognises Ghost and checks your publication the way readers and Google see it: posts that stop opening or get hidden from search, analytics tags lost after a theme change, links that lead nowhere.
Our own algorithm, built on years of hands-on work growing real websites.
What Up’n’Top checks on Ghost
- Uptime every 5 minutes; the site counts as down only after repeated failures and a check from a second location.
- Posts and pages hidden from search: a noindex tag, or a robots.txt rule that closes the whole site or important pages.
- Analytics tags on every checked page: a tag that vanished after a theme change or a code injection edit, or a page view counted twice.
- Broken links and images, pages that answer with an error, and redirects that send readers to another site.
- JavaScript libraries with known vulnerabilities that your theme loads — jQuery and others — checked against the OSV database every day.
- Your domain and SSL certificate: we warn before either expires.
How to connect
Add your site’s address. Up’n’Top recognises Ghost on its own — self-hosted or on Ghost(Pro), with no integration to set up and no Admin API access.
Mark up to 20 key pages — home, your best posts, the signup page — and choose where alerts go: email, Telegram, Slack or a webhook.
Confirm that the site is yours with a meta tag, a DNS record or Google Search Console.
Under the hood
A lot happens before you get a message. All of it is our own work.
New posts are found through your links and sitemap, and the whole site is walked again every 30 days.
Tags are tracked page by page: you see which page lost which tag, and since when.
A page counts as broken only after a second failed check hours later — no false alarms at night.
Calm alerts: urgent ones at once, the rest in one digest every 15 minutes.
Questions
Do I need an Admin API key or an integration?
No. Up’n’Top checks your public pages from outside, as readers and search engines do. Nothing is added to Ghost.
Do you check my newsletter or members?
No. We check the public site: pages, tags, links, robots.txt, the certificate and the domain. Newsletters and member data are not read.
What does the robots.txt fix look like for Ghost?
When robots.txt is missing or closes too much, the free check writes one that keeps /ghost/ and post previews closed, adds the Sitemap line and says to put the file in your theme’s root.
Will the checks slow my site down?
No. We make at most 2 requests per second, one at a time, and back off when your server asks us to.
