Up’n’Top
Up’n’Top for Squarespace

A new template went live. Did your analytics tag survive?

Up’n’Top recognises Squarespace and checks every page the way visitors and Google see it. When a template switch or a Code Injection edit drops a tag, closes a page or breaks a link, you hear it from us, with the fix.

Our own algorithm, built on years of hands-on work growing real websites.

What Up’n’Top checks on Squarespace

  • Analytics tags on every checked page: a tag that vanished after a template switch, or a page view counted twice.
  • Pages hidden from search: a noindex tag, or robots.txt closing the whole site or important pages.
  • Broken links and images, pages that answer with an error, and redirects that send visitors to another site.
  • Uptime every 5 minutes; the site counts as down only after repeated failures and a check from a second location.
  • Your domain and SSL certificate: we warn before either expires, even if the domain is registered outside Squarespace.
  • Contact form test: on a site you have confirmed, and only with your consent, a test request goes through the form and we check that the email arrives.

How to connect

  1. Add your site’s address. Up’n’Top recognises Squarespace on its own — no extension and no access to your account.

  2. Mark up to 20 key pages and choose where alerts go: email, Telegram, Slack or a webhook.

  3. Confirm that the site is yours with a meta tag, a DNS record or Google Search Console. This turns on the contact form test.

Under the hood

A lot happens before you get a message. All of it is our own work.

  • Tags are tracked page by page: you see which page lost which tag, and since when.

  • A page counts as broken only after a second failed check hours later — no false alarms at night.

  • Large sites: a sample of every page type is checked every day, so no page goes unseen for long.

  • Calm alerts: urgent ones at once, the rest in one digest every 15 minutes.

Questions

Do I need a Squarespace extension?

No. Up’n’Top checks your public pages from outside, as visitors and search engines do. Nothing is installed and no login is needed.

Squarespace won’t let me replace robots.txt. What then?

Right, Squarespace builds the file itself. We still read it every hour, and if it closes the site or important pages, the fix points you to Settings, Crawlers.

Will pages I hid from search show up as problems?

A page closed with noindex shows up, so an accident does not go unnoticed. If you closed it on purpose, hide the problem.

Will the checks slow my site down?

No. We make at most 2 requests per second, one at a time, and back off when your server asks us to.
